Vernadsky station: Unusual visitors

The Ukrainian scientists on the yacht “Pelagic Austral"

During work of the Ukrainian scientists, station was visited by the following unusual visitors (well known all over the world):

• Robert Scott’s grandson;

• British traveller John Ridguei. He bypassed globe on the yacht English Rose-4 for 200 days, and he has never come nearer to the coast, moreover, he didn’t see it at all. He was the first who crossed Atlantic ocean with oars;

• Don Wolsh together with O.Pikar who for the first time were lowered on the bottom of Marianne hollow on the bathyscaphe "Trieste";

• Yacht known Pelagic. On its board during a month Palestinians and Israelis showed an opportunity of peaceful co-existence to all world. The sailing purpose was the common ascention on unknown top of Antarctic Peninsula wich is in 70 kms south from the Ukrainian station. It received name of the Palestina-Israeli Commonwealth. This Peace Cruise was planning two years and occuring events were watched with leading telechannels of the world. Official end of mission was marked at Vernadsky station.
