THE CREATION OF GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM OF THE WESTERN REGION OF ANTARCTIC

This Geographic Information System will provide an access to cartographic data in a geodatabase.
The GIS will popularize the Antarctic work of Ukrainian researchers in the world. And also will provide a steady interaction of scientists around the globe on this topic.
The received positioning data of selected terrain probes and their features will be entered into the sole GIS system of National Antarctic Scientific Center of NASU with the possibility of a further transfer to ICSU World Data Centres, Joint Committee for Antarctic Data Management, WCRP and oth.
The management of the project shall be provided by National Antarctic Scientific Center of NASU relative to JSC “ECOMM Co”. Also the international level management of IPY coordinators is anticipated.
